June 19 Event to Offer Child Car Seat and Bike Helmet Safety Checks and More

(COOPERS MILLS) — “Child Safety Day,” will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2004 from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Lion’s Den, Main Street, Coopers Mills.

A certified child passenger safety technician will be on hand to check child safety seats for proper fit and installation or defects. A representative from the Bicycle Coalition of Maine will be available to check children’s bicycle helmets for proper fit. The proper use of water safety flotation devices will also be demonstrated by a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Child car seats and bike helmets will be available to qualifying families at reduced cost.

“This is a great opportunity for parents to learn about some important steps they can take to help protect their children over the summer months,” says Dr. Carol Eckert of the Sheepscot Valley Health Center, who will be participating in the event.

The event is sponsored by the Whitefield Lion’s Club and the Sheepscot Valley Health Center Board of Directors.
