Rangeley Region Health Center Recognized for Quality

Rangeley– Rangeley Region Health Center has been given three blue ribbons – the highest rating for quality health care – by the Maine Health Management Coalition.

The Maine Health Management Coalition (MHMC) is made up of Maine employers, hospitals, doctors, and health plans. The MHMC website (www.mhmc.info) rates doctors and hospitals so that people and businesses in the state of Maine can choose the best quality healthcare. The rating system is based on three categories. The rating for the first category, "Uses Clinical Office Systems to Manage Care," is based on how well practices track and use patient data to deliver care. The second and third categories are "Measures Results of Diabetes Care" and "Measures Results of Heart Disease Care." The ratings from these categories are based on whether patients with those conditions manage their diseases well or improve as measured by national standards. Data for each category was reported by physicians in a state-wide survey.

Rangeley Region Health Center received blue ribbons in each of the three categories. The health center was given a rating of "Best" at managing diabetes and heart disease care, and an overall rating of “Better” for using clinical office systems. Within the office systems category, Rangeley excelled at providing electronic prescriptions and developing and following clinical guidelines. Kate Quimby, practice manager at Rangeley, says that "I believe it is important that we as a staff provide our patients with the highest quality care possible and do our best to effectively manage the care of all patients, especially those in the high risk category." Rangeley Region Health Center serves the Rangeley Lakes region, and almost 2,000 people used the health center’s services last year.
