Lovejoy is one of the busiest practices in the HealthReach system of 11 community health centers. In 1978, we began providing healthcare to area families. Now we serve over 4,000 people each year. A diligent clinical and administrative team offers a full range of primary care services including obstetrics. In addition, we employ a behavioral health consultant who assists individuals in setting goals to improve their wellbeing. Our physicians maintain strong working relationships with MaineGeneral Medical Center where patients needing hospitalization seek care.

Residents of all ages from Albion, China, Freedom, Palermo, Thorndike, Troy, Unity, and other surrounding communities use the health center for physicals, chronic care management, laboratory, minor surgery, and more. Our community board continues to expand and upgrade our facility and to provide ongoing local feedback.

Lovejoy Health Center, located in Albion, is named for Elijah Parish Lovejoy, an early resident who fought for freedom of the press. Albion’s history is also linked to Maine’s narrow gauge railway, whose trail is now used for hiking and snowmobiling. As a rural farming community, Albion is home to some of Maine’s largest dairy herds. The highlight of each summer is Fireman’s Field Day, which includes several events and a parade, bringing the whole community together. The central village, elementary school, and library contribute to the intimate and family friendly nature of the town. Situated east of Waterville and west of the Maine coast, residents are provided with job opportunities, shopping centers, outdoor recreational adventures and cultural activities with just a short commute
